Ribonuclease A (RNase A)

Features:

  • lyophilized powder ( 50 mg )
  • The enzyme Specific activity is ≥50 Kunitz units/mg protein
  • enzyme showed optimum pH at pH  7.6 (activity range of 6–10)
Description

Extracted from bovine pancreas for RNA separation, especially when isolating RNAfree DNA. RNase A is an endoribonuclease that attacks at the phosphate of a pyrimidine nucleotide. The sequence of pG-pG-pC-pA-pG will be cleaved to give pG-pG-pCp and A-pG. The highest activity is exhibited with single stranded RNA. RNase A is a single chain polypeptide containing disulfide bridges. Activators of RNase A include potassium and sodium salts.

Applications:

  • Removal of RNA from recombinant protein preparations
  • Ribonuclease protection assays
  • Removal of non-hybridized regions of RNA:DNA hybrids
  • Mapping single-base mutations in DNA or RNA
  • removal of RNA from preparations of plasmid DNA

storage:

  • store at –20 °C
